Artist Talk: Adrienne Pender

Hello Chasers,

The SCC Giles Campus Library is hosting an artist talk for Mrs. Adrienne Pender. Adrianne Pender is a collage artist whose work focuses on botanicals through the use of recycled materials. The artist talk will be held on Thursday, February 29th at 1:00p.m. in the SCC Giles Campus Library Art Gallery area. All are welcome to attend. With a commitment to sustainability, she deliberately uses old and discarded materials, infusing her creations with an eco-conscious approach. She likes to try to draw the viewer's eye into the piece using the surface image (typically a flower but sometimes other subjects) and then after seeing that let them explore the underlying collage materials. Each piece in the collage has a history and she finds it interesting to mix new creations on top of the older collage materials. Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Media from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Adrianne initially delved into photography before transitioning her focus to collage. Adrianne is also the co-founder of SCRAP (Spartanburg Creative Reuse Art Project), a nonprofit aimed at fostering creativity and sustainability.
