Narrowing Your Topic

Narrow Sign

Once you've done some initial background reading, it's time to narrow down from the topic of engineering ethics to a specific historical engineering ethics dilemma.

Remember your assignment requirements and consider what you've read thus far.

Consider the Following Topics:

  • OceanGate Titan Submersible
  • Boeing 737 Crashes
  • The Challenger Disaster
  • Ford Pinto Recall
  • Kansas City Hyatt Regency Skywalk Collapse
  • Exxon Valdez Oil Spill
  • San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Earthquake Collapse
  • Ford Explorer Rollovers
  • Columbia Space Shuttle Disaster
  • Chernobyl Nuclear Explosion
  • Volkswagen "Dieselgate"
  • Tacoma Narrows First Suspension Bridge Failure
  • The Titanic
  • New Orleans Failed Levee System (Hurricane Katrina)

There are several other historical engineering ethical problems beyond the list above. Please seek topic approval from your instructor.

As you start to narrow your research into a PowerPoint presentation, you'll want to continue to look for more sources.
