Once you've done some initial background reading about your societal issues, it's time to narrow down your problem to what you really want to work on.
Through research, identify an urgent problem and develop a specific plan or initiative to address the societal problem.

Imagine you are writing a brief summary of your plan or solution that will be read by potential donors who know absolutely nothing about your charity or its work. An effective mission statement will be clear, concise, useful, and include the following information:
Sample Mission Statement: "The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its congressional charter and the fundamental principle of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies."
