Exclamation PointFirst Things First - Assignment Requirements

Before you begin, examine the assignment requirements closely.

Q. How long is the journal article summary?

This could be a page length, a page range, a word count, etc. Check your assignment, but your summary should be multiple paragraphs, at least one paragraph to summarize the information and one paragraph to give your reaction to the article related to what you have learned in this course.

Q. How many articles?

For this assignment, you need to select 3 articles all on the same topic, which was assigned to you.  Then, you will write a  summary of each article in your own words and react to it.  Be sure to highlight how the article is related to the topics you have talked about in class.

Q. What are the journal article requirements?

Your article must:

  • be on the assigned topic
  • be dated 2012 or later
  • come from a reliable source (like library databases)

Q. How do you cite articles?

Most instructors will ask you to use MLA format for your citations. You will need to check out the library's MLA Guide to find out what information you need to create the MLA Works Cited page.

Q. What is due?

You will turn in the following:

  • A cover page; including IDS 101, due date, instructor name, your name, topic
  • Works Cited page in MLA Format
  • A copy of all 3 articles
  • Your summaries

Q. When is it due?

Plan out your time, so you don't get stuck doing all the work at the last minute. Plan extra time in case you have problems or get stuck.
