Who are the people or organizations that determine the United States' policies on education? Who are the people in American society who hold various opinions about education?


What are the prevailing attitudes in America toward intellectuals, academics, schools, etc.  What has influenced these attitudes?


Have attitudes toward education in the United States or Finland changed over the years? If so, why and when?


If you are choosing the topic of education in Finland, you may want to do some research on Finland to understand how its culture is different from the U.S. and how this might influence their education policy and practices.


Why is the debate on effective educational practices and/or the importance of promoting gifted children important to the future of the United States?
