Cite a Book

Print Book

Format

Author. Title. Edition. City (Abbreviated State of Publication): Publisher; Date. Pages.

*Note: When citing an entire book, the "Pages" is an optional element.

Example

Bosch LD. Clinical practice guidelines. 3rd ed. Stillwater (MN): Voyageur Press; 1988.

 

Chapter of a Book

Format: 

Author. Title . Edition. City (Abbreviated State of Publication): Publisher; Date. Chapter number, Chapter title; Pages.

Example:

Wande B. Rapid assessment of acute public health events. New York (NY): Metropolitan Books; 2017. Chapter 3, Influenza outbreak; p. 48–71.

 

More than One Author

Example:

Ferrozzi F, Garlaschi G, Bova D. CT of metastases. New York (NY): Springer; 2000.

 

More than Ten Authors

Example:

Simpson A, Burns M, Lovejoy J, Gumble B, Christian S, Powers R, Simpson L, Flanders T, Simpson B, Burns L, et al. Continuous positive airway pressure with helmet versus mask. Pediatrics 2015;9(1):49-58.
